The cotton ceiling refers to the alleged phenomenon in which lesbian and bisexual women are unwilling to have sexual relations with transgender-identified males. The term was coined by Canadian transgender activist and pornography actor Drew DeVeaux.[1] The word "cotton" in this context refers to women's underwear. The term draws a semantic parallel to the glass ceiling, which describes the inability of women to reach high-level positions within the workplace.
